mcad has two graduation ceremonies in a year, one in the fall and one in the spring, where mfa graduates walk as well. for mcad’s fall 2023 and spring 2024 commencement ceremony identity, i wanted to celebrate the accomplishments of this incredible group of people by evoking a vintage look. inspired heavily by menu design, the elegantly simple script and small juniper (or hydrangea) embellishments sing to a elevated feeling, while still being able to see itself as a bit fun and silly as well. fall (blue) and spring (yellow/green) usually get their own separate color treatments, and a third colorway comes into play with the mfa (pink/red) identity as well.
